Previously, the world-renowned Vandoren Optimum Series only offered the BL3 and BL4 baritone saxophone mouthpieces and now, the BL5 has been added to the range. While made from the same material and bearing the same length, the BL5 has a slightly larger 2.35mm tip-opening. This slight difference gives the mouthpiece a bigger sound while retaining the same level of warmth and fullness. Combined with the longer barrel length of Optimum mouthpieces, this means that a little extra control is required, making the BL5 less comfortable for beginner saxophonists.
